Getting Ready for Your Move with Managed Moves

Managed Moves wants to make your move as smooth and stress-free as possible! This guide will help you prepare for your move, whether you choose to pack yourself or have Managed Moves do the packing for you.

Preparing for Managed Moves Packers to Arrive

  • Make Sorting Decisions Early: Avoid last-minute scrambling about what to pack. Decide what to keep and what to donate or sell beforehand.
  • Communicate What Needs Packing: Use blue masking tape or sticky notes to mark shelves, cabinets, and closets that you want the professional packers to handle.
  • Pack an Overnight Bag: Pack an essential bag with toiletries, medications, chargers, and a change of clothes for easy access on moving day.
  • Let Managed Moves Know About Lavender: If you have any lavender products in your house, please let the office know in advance to avoid any issues.

Managed Moves Can Help You Downsize and Prepare!

Feeling overwhelmed by sorting and packing? Managed Moves offers Downsizing and Pack Prep Assistance. Their staff can help you sort through your belongings room by room, so everything is ready for a smooth packing and moving day.

Packing Yourself? Here’s How to Prepare

  • Pack Most Items in Boxes: For a speedy move, have all small items packed in boxes before the movers arrive. Unpacked items will add time and cost to your move.
  • Clear Furniture Surfaces: Make sure the surfaces of all furniture to be moved are clear of clutter.
  • Pack or Remove Loose Items from Drawers: Linens and clothes can stay in dresser drawers, but pack or remove any loose or breakable items. Loose items will slow down the movers.
  • Pro Tip: Change Your Sheets: Change your sheets the night before you move. The movers will pack your old bedding and make your bed with the clean sheets in your new home!
  • Hold Off on Watering Plants: Don’t water your houseplants for a few days before the move to avoid leaks in the truck.
  • Managed Moves Can Move Your Refrigerated Food: If you want Managed Moves to move your refrigerated food, have a cooler ready for them to load.

Moving Day

  • Movers will arrive between 8:30-9:30 am for morning moves and will call ahead for afternoon moves.
  • The movers will walk through your house to confirm the inventory and plan how to load the truck.
  • You will have access to your clothes in your dresser and closet until move day.
  • The movers will shrink wrap furniture and pack hanging clothes in wardrobe boxes.
  • There may be a short delay between arrival at the new location and unloading the truck. This is for the movers to take a break, check in at the property, and plan the unload.
  • Movers will unpack wardrobes and remove boxes unless you want to keep them. They will also remove all shrink wrap from furniture.
  • They will reassemble any furniture disassembled during loading, but will not re-mount anything taken off the walls at the origin location.
  • If the movers remove linens from your bed at the origin, they will remake your bed at the destination.
  • Please be present at the end of the move for payment and to do a final walkthrough to ensure you are happy with everything. Managed Moves accepts credit cards or checks.
  • Managed Moves understands you might need to adjust furniture placement after moving in. They will happily come back to re-position furniture for you free of charge on their next visit to the property.
